Todd C. Monson, PhD

Senior Member of the Technical Staff
Sandia National Labs

Todd Monson has been a member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories for over ten years, where he has been the primary point of contact for all magnetic materials characterization.  Todd completed a Master’s in physics at UT Austin in 2001 and earned his Ph.D., also from UT Austin, in 2012 on the topic of “Study of Anomalous Behavior in Solution Synthesized Iron Nanoparticles.”    In addition to studying the magnetic behavior of magnetic materials using SQUID magnetometry, Todd has extensive experience in characterizing the structural properties of these materials, using both synchrotron and lab based X-ray characterization techniques.  Prior to joining Sandia, Todd served as a physicist in the United States Air Force for over seven years.  He held assignments included serving as an assistant professor at the U. S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) Department of Physics and at the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Munitions Directorate.
