Steve Martin

Steve W. Martin received his B.S. in Chemistry from Capital University in 1980 and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry with an emphasis on solid state electrochemistry from Purdue University in 1986. Since joining Iowa State University in 1986, Martin has been promoted to the ranks of University Professor in 2006 and Anson Marston Distinguished Professor in Engineering in 2009. He is one of only two professors in the history of Iowa State to be awarded both of these highest faculty distinctions.  His research interests include thin films, glass and amorphous materials, and solid electrolytes for batteries. He has published more than 200 refereed articles and given more than 225 invited talks around the world. Martin has conducted research on the preparation and characterization of thin film solid electrolytes for lithium batteries for more than 10 years, has published three major reviews of this area of research and published more than 100 other publications on solid electrolytes for batteries.
