Development Engineer

Chad B. O'Neal, Ph.D., P.E. received his B.S. in 1998 and M.S. in 2000 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas. He then completed a Ph.D. in Microelectronics-Photonics also from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 2004. He is a currently a Development Engineer at APEI (now part of Cree) and is involved in new project conception, management, and execution of high voltage, high temperature power electronic modules. Prior to joining APEI, Dr. O'Neal worked the areas of micro and nano systems design and packaging for 15 years, specifically the design and fabrication of MEMS sensors and actuators including piezoelectrics and substrate bonding. Previously, he was the Max Watson Sr. Endowed Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Assistant Director of The Institute for Micromanufacturing at Louisiana Tech University from 2004 to 2012. He is a registered professional engineer in Arkansas and Louisiana.
