Ben Kaun has over 10 years of professional experience in energy storage and is currently a Senior Project Manager in EPRI’s Energy Storage Program. He dedicates his career to advancing the application of energy storage to the electric power system.  In 2013, Ben managed a public EPRI cost-benefit study to inform the stakeholders in the California PUC decision to set a 1.3 GW procurement target.  He is currently leading a project to advance the model used in that study to provide a transparent storage valuation model to the public.  Ben currently leads the Energy Storage Integration Council (ESIC), a technically focused collaborative initiative facilitated by EPRI to advance the integration and deployment of energy storage.  Ben has served one term on the board of the ESA with and multiple leadership roles in the organization.  These include membership chair, nominating committee chair, modeling tools task force chair, member of the governance committee.  Prior to EPRI, Ben worked with multiple early stage electric vehicle and battery companies to develop novel technology, test, and commercialize advanced batteries for vehicle electrification.  Ben earned a BS in Systems Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MS in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University.
